Packie's Bar and Grille
Packie’s Bar and Grille, - 696 Cambridge St
Packie’s (or Packy’s) Bar and Grille was located in East Cambridge. In the summer of 1957, Eric von Schmidt played one of his first ever paid gigs at Packey’s. In Baby, Let Me Follow You Down he recounts that the bar’s M.C. “asked me what my name was, and I guess he couldn’t believe it, so he asked Bill, too. Just before we start to play he says “…and with us tonight on guitar we have a very warm personality, a little hand, folks, for…Richard Vaughn!” We didn’t exactly tear ‘em up down at Packie’s.”
